Large audio files may contain entire songs compilations, which makes it difficult to locate and play a specific song. If you are not interested in all songs, you can use a specialized application to extract and store them in separate files. Songs Cutter can help you make precise cuts on your MP3 files. It allows you to extract more than one segment from your audio files and save them in separate files, without affecting the original playback quality.

The application is absolutely free and it works on all popular Windows platforms. Its setup package is 4.31 MB and the installation process is quick and easy. The hardware requirements are modest and there is no need to install any additional codecs.

Songs Cutter's user interface is clean and efficient and it does not burden you with options which you may never use. Once you load an audio file, its wave form will be displayed on the upper half of the window and its title, artist, length, start and end times will appear on the lower half.

To split the loaded audio file, you just need to click the wave form, in the position you wish to make the cut. A small window will show up, on which you can specify the exact start and end times, if you wish to make a precise cut. You can repeat this operation several times, if you wish to split the file into multiple parts. The made cuts are represented on the wave form as yellow lines, which can be moved to other positions, just by clicking and dragging.

When you make a cut, the audio file's start and end times will be modified accordingly. Each time you cut the loaded file, a new entry will appear in the lower half of the interface, with corresponding start and end times. Title and artist names can be edited for each entry. When you start the actual cutting procedure, by clicking a button on the toolbar, the application will save the audio files and name them after their corresponding title and artist names.
